Advanced Care Paramedic

Program Prerequisites

Program Prerequisites

We’ve worked to ensure our training is available to anyone with the requisite foundational knowledge, skills and experience by building multiple pathways to entry.  Students have the traditional option of attending college/university where they can complete courses such as 100 and 200 level english, statistics, pharmacology, etc. or they have the option to take targeted training instead such as Dalhousie University’s “Prehospital Evidence Based Practice” course, ILTS, PEPP, etc.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)

The pre-requisites for the ACP program are critical to ensuring that students arrive with the foundational skills, knowledge and experience required to succeed in this program.  However, for those who already possess the requisite skills, knowledge and/or experience through other means we are committed to recognizing it through this PLAR process.

While we welcome questions about the PLAR process from those considering applying, due to the considerable work required to individually review the particulars of each PLAR submission our school is unable to provide a formal review or decision until after a potential student has applied to the program and submitted a formal PLAR application through our application portal.
